Power of Attorney
GENERAL POWER OF ATTORNEY
A Power of Attorney is an instrument created by a person who entrusts someone to act on his behalf. The “Donor” is the creator of the instrument while the person who is the recipient of the authority to act is the “Attorney”. The authority given by the donor to the Attorney may be in respect of business, personal or legal matters e.g. if you go overseas for a long period or you go to prison.

Co-owners who are going overseas must come and sign too. CO-owners who are NOT going overseas do not have to come. You CAN appoint a co-owner / spouse as Attorney.

The lawyer will scan the POA and upload to the High Court website. He will pass you the original for you to keep.

The POA will be approved by the High Court in 1 to 3 days which will be in PDF format.
