Legal opinion · $4,000 nett
A legal opinion is a formal letter from the firm to someone other than you usually a bank, lender, regulator, auditor or an overseas law firm, confirming specific points of Singapore law about your company and a transaction so that they can rely on it. The firm takes responsibility to that third party for what it confirms. That is what makes it different from advice.

Questions people ask first
Who typically asks for one?
Banks before lending, foreign buyers or investors, regulators and registries overseas, auditors and the other side's lawyers in a cross-border deal.
Can it cover the law of another country?
No. We opine on Singapore law only. The receiving party usually gets a separate opinion from a lawyer in their own country.
Can it be addressed to a party overseas?
Yes. Most of our opinions are.
What can't you confirm?
Facts we can't verify from documents and official searches and anything outside the documents listed in the opinion.
