Grant of Probate / Letters of Administration

Cost: $1,150 nett fixed price (includes Court filing fees and Commissioner of Oaths fees).

When a person dies, his family cannot just walk into a bank, insurance company, CDP or HDB to ask for the money, shares or transfer the flat.

If the deceased died with a Will, the family has to get the Will approved by the Court. This Court order is called a Grant of Probate.

If the deceased died without a Will, the family has to get a Court order called Letters of Adinistration.

The procedure for both Probate and Letters of Administration are the same except that for Letters of Administration, the lawyer does not upload a Will to the Court because the person died without a Will.

If you know ALL the deceased assets (e.g. a HDB flat and 2 bank accounts) and do not need us to write to all the banks and insurance companies to enquire whether the deceased has an account / policy, the time it takes is approximately two (2) weeks.

If you require us to write to all the banks and insurance companies to enquire whether the deceased has an account / policy, it will take about three (3) months.
